Jessica, our client, approached MEC with just a general idea of what she wanted for her custom glass mosaic mural.
She wanted something that would be quietly elegant yet brilliant. She also shared that she would prefer some scene or creature related to wildlife.
This handmade glass mosaic mural capturing animal movement was suggested by our design team. The suggestion was approved.
As our client had a living room that was quite bright and cheerful looking to begin with, she wanted artwork that would be quietly bright but not exactly shiny or ostentatious.

The idea was to keep this handcrafted glass mosaic animal sculpture wall art simple but stylish.
Our designers toyed with the idea of having more than one leopard in the mosaic mural. Eventually, it was decided that one leopard would be powerful enough to give the mosaic the energy and grace that was desired of it.
This custom mosaic wildlife art was crafted in glass with a mount underneath it. Later, it was made part of a mosaic mural that was installed as a feature wall.

Early Sketches
Once the selected wildlife was in place, our designers had to decide whether to have one or more than one leopard in the mural. All our experts agreed that one leopard was enough to command the whole mosaic.
Design Pattern Layout
The leopard was to be the focal point of that mural, weaving its way through the wild. No other animals were added to this mural as the leopard itself was enough to arrest the attention of the viewers.

This custom mosaic wildlife art was commissioned to be crafted in hand-cut glass. The leopard was designed in shades of Antique Gold, Champagne, Bronze and Deep Black.

With the design pattern, colour palettes and materials in place, the next step was to be carried out by our Italian-trained team of craftsmen.
This shaped glass mosaic mural in gold and bronze tones was mounted during the time it was set.
Each detail of the leopard was created as lifelike as possible. The eyes were done in Deep Black with champagne-shaded tesserae for the eyeballs to give them a realistic shade.
Each tesserae was hand-cut and carefully chiselled to create the contours in a real leopard.
Accurate sketches of the leopard were mimicked to the dot in tesserae to create this custom mosaic wildlife art.
Our artisans did an outstanding job in bringing the custom glass mosaic leopard in the wall mural to life.
Each feature was perfectly laid out in the appropriate coloured tesserae. From the eyes and whiskers to the very last tile that constituted the tail of this magnificent creature.
The Antique Gold and bronze tones gave the mosaic those bejewelled tones that made it an instant hit with our client.
