The Commercial Installation Process
MEC follows the globally approved six-step procedure for the creation of your custom mosaics.
01. Design Concept & Detailing
Our Design team will reach out to you to discuss the design concept and all the details you would like to add to your artwork. A sample of the design concept is then provided to the client.
02. Material Selection
Once the design concept has been approved, materials for the project are selected MEC offers a wide variety of glass and marble tiles. Our global supply chain ensures that we acquire the requisite amount and the best quality materials for your project.
03. Fabrication
The mosaic tiles are then hand-crafted with the selected hues and materials. They are then mounted on mesh-sheets, ready for installation.
04. Preparation of Surface
The site is then prepared for the actual installation of the mosaic. Waterproofing of the surface is carried out. It is ensured that there are no cracks or leaks in the surface that may cause potential problems. The site is then levelled and made ready for the mosaic installation.
05. The Installation Process
The mosaic, which has been delivered on mesh-sheets in sections or panels along with an installation map guide, is fairly simple to install. The map and sections are both numbered. This helps with the easy setting up of your mosaic artwork. Grout is put in the spaces between the tiles, followed by sealing wax on the tiles.
06. Finishing
The final touches are then added to your masterpiece, which includes the cleaning and polishing of tiles. In case of pool or fountain mosaics, time needs to be given to the tiles to set and ground firmly before they are brought into contact with water. This ascertains the longevity of your mosaic artwork and avoids the spoiling of tiles.
