How Custom Mosaic Art Installation Works
MEC follows the globally approved six-step procedure for the creation of your custom mosaics.
01. Discussion of Design Concept
A consultant from our dedicated design team gets in touch with the client to hear out their mosaic vision. Additions or changes are made to it if necessary to ensure viability. This is done with the approval of the client. The process takes around 4 to 6 weeks. Our design team also offers exquisite designs for clients who prefer artistic support.
02. Collection of Materials
Once the design concept is in place, materials are collected for the impending project. Materials can be as luxurious and budget-friendly as the client requires. Ceramics look good and are mostly cost-effective. Gold and metallic accents may require more investment, but they look gorgeous.
03. Creation of Mosaic Design
Next, the design is actually created. This may be done in two ways: manually, where each tile/ tesserae is put by hand into place to make up the whole mosaic image. This generally takes longer but generates unique results as each piece is hand-crafted and placed. MEC also uses digital mapping and robotic placement of tiles to create a full digital picture before the actual putting together of the mosaic. This is a more time-efficient way and can be used for large-scale mosaic production as it helps speed up the design-creation process.
04. Pre-Assembly of Mosaic
The mosaic is then assembled on mesh-sheets in sections. A comprehensive map is provided with the numbering corresponding to the numbering on each mesh-sheet. This ensures a smooth, error-free installation process.
05. On-site Installation
For local installations, each site is personally prepared by our expert installation team. Levelling and waterproofing followed by the application of adhesive material, and placement of sections of the mosaic. The final step in installation is the application of grout in the area between each tile.
06. Setting and Finishing
The fixture is then given some time to set, the grout hardens, and the tiles are firmly attached in place. The last step involves the application of sealant wax on the entire fixture. This helps protect the mosaic from stains and weathering.
