Blue Checkered Mosaic Pattern Dome

An Islamic glass Dome featuring 3 mosaic patterns; Plain, Random & Chequer. Sarah Alvi designed much of the Glass mosaic decoration for the Mosque in collaboration with MEC.

The Celestial Blue Mosaic Dome blends soothing tonal harmony with geometric refinement, creating a visually serene yet architecturally striking presence. Wrapped in layers of blue mosaic tiles, the dome transitions from soft sky tones to deeper aquatic shades, culminating in a distinctive checkered band of diamond motifs. A polished silver finial rises elegantly from the apex, adding height and spiritual symbolism. This dome stands as a graceful fusion of color, pattern, and craftsmanship.

Harmonic Blue Gradient

The dome showcases a sweeping gradient of pale sky blue, aqua, and deep cerulean, evoking the calm of open horizons. The tonal shift enhances curvature and gives the surface a soft, luminous glow under natural light.

Geometric Diamond Band

A striking frieze of diamond-shaped motifs wraps around the upper portion of the dome. Composed of alternating blues with touches of gold, this checkered band adds rhythm and visual structure to the otherwise fluid gradient.

Light-Reflective Mosaic Texture

The dense arrangement of small glass tiles creates a shimmering surface, subtly catching sunlight and infusing the dome with dynamic reflection and depth.

Sculptural Silhouette

The dome’s smooth, tapered form is crowned with an elongated silver finial featuring stacked ornamental spheres. This vertical accent adds elegance and reinforces the dome’s cultural and architectural identity.
