Two homes, two states, one stunning design — A timeless floral design with a modern twist brings a touch of handcrafted tile art charm to Missouri and Alabama.
Sometimes, the perfect design doesn’t need to be reinvented—just reimagined. That’s exactly what happened when two clients, one in Kansas City and the other in Fairhope, fell in love with the same white rose mosaic from our catalog. With a few tweaks to fit their unique spaces, this timeless floral design found its way into two very different homes, each telling its own story.
A Tale of Two Walls
Kandi, from Kansas City, Missouri, envisioned the white rose mosaic as a calm yet captivating focal point for her 5′ x 5′ wall. Autumn, from Fairhope, Alabama, had a slightly smaller space—4′ x 5’—but was equally drawn to the soothing jade background and the graceful white blooms. While they chose the same design, both wanted it tailored to fit their spaces perfectly.
Shaping Their Vision
It all started with a quick contact form and a few conversations about their walls and budgets. After that, we got to work on layouts that preserved the balance of the floral pattern, adjusting for each wall’s size and proportions. But the journey didn’t end there. During and even after fabrication, both Kandi and Autumn requested subtle tweaks to the design and color details. Whether it was enhancing the shading on a rose or fine-tuning the green tones in the background, we made sure every tile was just right before we called it complete.
Crafting the Roses
In our workshop, the mosaics came to life piece by piece. Using a mix of shimmering Murano Iris tiles and solid Murano Bloom tiles, we carefully arranged thousands of glass pieces to bring the white roses to full bloom. The interplay of soft whites, gentle creams, and pale blues created petals with depth and dimension, while the jade-green background added a serene, wallpaper-like effect.
We shared behind-the-scenes photos throughout the process, giving both clients a peek into the craftsmanship (and the occasional organized chaos) behind their custom pieces. And, true to our philosophy, we didn’t pack or ship until each client was thrilled with the final look.
Blooming in Two States
Kandi’s wall in Kansas City now radiates calm elegance, while Autumn’s mosaic in Fairhope is still being fine-tuned to her liking (as of December 2024). Once the adjustments are complete, it will be shipped and ready to transform her space. Though the two pieces are hundreds of miles apart, they share the same foundation, brought to life in ways that reflect each client’s personal style and space. If they’re up for it, we’ll be sure to share photos of the mosaics in their homes once they’re fully set.
