Quadra Marble Mosaic Ikat Floor Tiles

Seamless ikat pattern featuring gray & white diagonal squares. Each tile strip is manually cut and placed by MEC’s Italy-trained craftsmen to give an impression of a real hand woven ikat rug.

Repeating Geometric Blocks: The primary design element is a consistent repetition of square or rectangular blocks. These blocks are arranged in a grid-like fashion across the tiled surface, creating a structured and orderly layout.

Varying Linear Patterns within Blocks: Each individual block is filled with parallel lines of varying thickness and density. Crucially, the direction of these lines changes from one block to the next, often oriented diagonally or horizontally. This variation in line direction within the grid creates the characteristic ikat effect, with visual “shifts” and “blurs” at the boundaries between blocks.

High Contrast: The design employs a high contrast between the dark lines and the lighter background marble. This contrast enhances the visibility of the linear patterns within each block and the overall geometric structure of the mosaic.

Textile-Inspired Texture: The changing direction and density of the lines within the blocks create a visual texture that mimics the intricate weaving patterns of ikat textiles. This adds a layer of tactile suggestion to the smooth marble surface.

Bichromatic Scheme: The color palette is primarily bichromatic, featuring a dark color (likely black or a dark grey marble) for the lines and a light color (white or a light grey marble) for the background within the blocks and the grid lines separating them.

Emphasis on Contrast: The stark contrast between the dark lines and the light background is a key element of the design’s visual impact, contributing to its bold and contemporary feel.

Small, Precisely Cut Tiles: The mosaic is composed of numerous small marble tiles, likely square or rectangular, that are precisely cut to form the linear patterns within each block and the grid separating them.

Grid-Based Arrangement: The blocks are arranged in a regular grid, creating a sense of order and structure across the tiled surface. The grout lines between the individual tiles and the larger blocks contribute to this grid-like appearance.
