The Bloom Series: A Floral Mosaic Collection Crafted in Glass & Stone

A few years back, one of our artisans at MEC Artworks was cutting glass for a client’s bathroom wall. It was a small burst of dahlias, meant to sit behind a freestanding tub. She said something that stuck with the rest of the studio. Flowers are the one thing people never get tired of asking for. A flower on a wall doesn’t just decorate a room. It keeps something alive that would normally wilt in a week.

That’s how the Bloom Series came together. We kept getting requests for florals, in every color and every scale. Instead of pulling from stock patterns, we let our artists design a real floral mosaic collection from scratch. Some are enormous, built to wrap around a column in a hotel lobby. Others are sized for the wall behind a kitchen stove. One is deliberately quiet, almost like it doesn’t want to be noticed. So every design in this floral mosaic collection is something new that you haven’t seen before.

Walk into almost any tile showroom, and you’ll find something labeled hand-cut mosaic tiles. But most of the time, it’s always a printed sheet. A few things are worth knowing before you look at the floral mosaic collection. Every mosaic is cut and placed by hand, so even two orders of the same design come out slightly different. The way two paintings by the same artist never match exactly. 

For instance, several pieces, including Imperial Dahlia, are built to wrap around curved walls and columns rather than sit flat. The finished mosaics run about 4mm thick, including the mesh backing, and the glass and stone resist fading, so a wall in direct sun for years should still hold its color.

Moreover, sizing and color are flexible on every mosaic piece. Our design team sends a free render before anything gets cut, so you see your actual wall first. Keep in mind that standard orders ship free and usually take 3 to 10 business days, wherever you’re ordering from.

In our MEC Artworks studio, nothing here is stamped or printed. Every petal, vine, leaf, and bird is set tessera by tessera, the old word for the small individual pieces of glass or stone that make up a mosaic. Three pieces in this floral mosaic collection are built at a scale meant to serve as a visual centerpiece. Each mosaic wall design came from a slightly different idea our team was chasing.

Imperial Dahlia Mosaic Wall 

Started as a dahlia floral mosaic wall art commission for a client’s spa. It grew from there. Dahlias, roses, and chrysanthemums spread across an ivory background in deep crimson, amber, and gold. It’s built to wrap around curved walls and columns. At roughly 9ft by 6ft in its standard size, it isn’t one accent among many. It’s the reason people walk into a room and stop talking for a second. Flora Majestica Bathroom Mosaic Wall 

Came from a similar impulse as Imperial Dahlia in our floral mosaic collection, but warmer. Burgundy, gold, and copper flowers are arranged so they seem to drift rather than line up in rows. It tends to land in powder rooms and spa bathrooms, the kind of space that only needs one strong visual moment. It can also pair well with marble countertops and brass fixtures. (Flora Majestica)

Blossom Opulence Mosaic Artwork 

This design has a warm, autumn-inspired feel. Copper, terracotta, and burgundy petals stand out against a soft ivory background. Subtle circular patterns add depth. It works especially well in restaurants and dining rooms where clients want a warm and inviting atmosphere without a traditional look. Kitchen & Backsplash Blooms

Four pieces in the floral mosaic collection were sized specifically for the wall behind a stove or sink. That meant thinking about scale differently than with the statement walls above.

Avian Bloom Mosaic Backsplash 

Hummingbird floral mosaic wall art design built around movement. Small hummingbirds thread through burgundy and lavender wildflowers over green vines. It’s one of the busier pieces in the lineup, but the ivory background keeps it from overwhelming a kitchen. (Avian Bloom)

Malachite Meadow Mosaic Backsplash

It’s a wildflower floral mosaic wall art piece, soft green stems and small burgundy blossoms set in gentle, almost concentric rings over ivory tile. When a client wants something in the kitchen that won’t demand attention every morning, this is usually what we point them toward from our floral mosaic collection. (Malachite Meadow)

Eden Rhapsody Mosaic Backsplash 

Came out of a playful design session. Turquoise, ruby, and cobalt flowers mix with geometric shapes until it reads more like folk art than a botanical and nature print. It’s the one we recommend from our floral mosaic collection when a client wants personality more than tradition. (Eden Rhapsody)

Cerulean Arched Botanica Mosaic Backsplash 

Uses cerulean and sapphire blues, framed inside an arched shape. That gives it architectural weight even at backsplash size. There’s a classic blue-and-white pottery feel running through it, which is why it tends to suit kitchens and lounges that lean traditional. (Cerulean Arched)

Two pieces in the floral mosaic collection were never meant to match anything. They were built to be looked at.

Weeping Eden Mosaic Mural 

A floral mosaic mural built around tall tropical plants, cascading blossoms, and oversized leaves in emerald, ochre, and blush. At 6ft by 8ft, it fills a wall rather than accenting one. It tends to end up in hotel lobbies and lounges that want to feel like they’re opening onto a garden. (Weeping Eden)

Deliquescent Flora Mosaic Mural 

Took the opposite approach. Tall flowers look like they’re dissolving into streaks of blue, coral, and gold. It reads closer to a watercolor painting than a botanical illustration. We built this one for clients who wanted floral on their wall without it being literal. (Deliquescent Flora) 

Refined Bedroom Wall Panel

Opaline Rosetta Mosaic Panel 

Doesn’t look like it belongs with the rest of the collection at first glance. That was intentional. It’s a mosaic wall panel in soft ivory, charcoal, and taupe, framed inside actual wooden panels. Vines and seed pods stand in for bright, obvious blooms. We originally designed it as a headboard feature for a client who wanted something calm behind their bed. It’s grown from there into a piece people request for reading nooks and bedroom accent walls, anywhere that wants quiet rather than color. (Opaline Rosetta)

How to Clean a Floral Mosaic Wall

Mosaic tile pieces don’t need much upkeep. A soft cloth and mild soap handle most cleaning. Just avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers. They can scratch the glass surface over time.

Grout lines may need occasional resealing, especially outdoors. That’s a quick job for most installers. Beyond that, the mosaic itself doesn’t fade, chip, or peel the way paint or wallpaper eventually does. It’s built to outlast the room around it.
