Marble Mosaic for Juniper Table at Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs | IHG Hotels & Resorts
At the entrance of Juniper Table, a Mediterranean restaurant at Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs, sits a custom-crafted marble mosaic made just for them. Here’s a glimpse into how it came together, from design tweaks to final workshop shots.
A Mosaic Welcome at Palm Springs
Earlier this year, had the pleasure of crafting a custom marble mosaic for the entrance of Juniper Table, a warm all-day eatery at Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs. The hotel is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), which made this project all the more exciting for our team. It was a chance to contribute a small but lasting detail to a space that’s part of a globally recognized hospitality brand.
The Design Process: Two Ideas, One Direction
The team at IHG shared a presentation with two distinct directions for the mosaic, along with their brand guidelines and palette. One was a more minimal approach, the other a bit more layered. They liked both, but wanted something that blended the feel of one with the layout of the other.
Bringing It to Life with Renders
To help visualize the design, we also created 3D renders during the concept stage. This helped narrow down the final look and gave everyone a clearer idea of how the artwork would come together in the space.
Our design team combined the best elements of each direction and built a refined version that hit the right notes. We kept the recognizable colors, reworked the layout for better visual flow, and fine-tuned the logo placement. Once that was approved, we sent the final artwork off to our workshop for fabrication.
From File to Fabrication
As production moved forward, we shared in-progress photos with the IHG team—from the early stages of cutting the marble by hand to sections of the mosaic laid out for inspection. Getting to see the materials and colors come together in real life helped build anticipation and made the process feel collaborative, even across distances.
We also made sure to keep the IHG team updated throughout the fabrication process. From early hand-cutting stages to partial mockups, they received photos directly from our workshop as the mosaic took shape. This is something we offer for all clients who are interested in staying in the loop—it turns the process into something you can watch unfold.
The mosaic features a soft crema marfil marble as the background, with deep green and black outlines bringing the logo to life. Touches of golden yellow marble add warmth and contrast, echoing details from the moodboard the team shared. These tones not only match the restaurant’s branding but also complement the surrounding desert landscape.
Final Touches & What Comes Next
Once the full piece was fabricated, we sent over the completed photos and videos. It looked just as we had imagined—sharp, warm, and inviting. We’re now looking forward to seeing it in its final home, welcoming guests as they walk into Juniper Table. If we’re lucky, we’ll get a few post-install photos too.
A Collaborative Process with a Personal Touch
We were honored to be a part of this project. While it came from a globally known name, the process itself felt grounded and collaborative. Our team worked closely with the designers at IHG, kept communication open, and made sure they were looped in throughout—from design refinements to workshop updates.
