The original Svein Marble Mosaic design, which Jeff initially saw on our website, features a stunning radial pattern composed of alternating black and white triangular segments. The triangles are arranged in concentric circles, creating a dynamic, eye-catching geometric pattern that draws the viewer’s attention towards the center. It is often used as a statement piece in grand entrances or spacious areas.

Initial Consultation and Design Concept

Our journey with Jeff, architect and founder of EAU – Ecology Architecture Urbanism, began with an in-depth consultation to understand his vision for a bespoke marble mosaic medallion for a powder room. He initially expressed interest in our Svein Marble Mosaic design for a larger area. However, after discussing various factors including space and budget considerations, Jeff decided to focus on creating a unique feature for a more intimate 165 sqft area.

Understanding the Space and Client Vision

The powder room, measuring 6’7″ x 5’9″, presented a unique challenge due to its compact size and rectangular shape. We discussed Jeff’s aesthetic preferences and the design elements he liked most from Svein so we could incorporate them into the custom options prepared for this particualr project.

Material Selection and Color Palette

Selecting the right materials was crucial to bring our design to life. We presented Jeff with a curated selection of premium marble samples, highlighting their unique textures and hues. After careful consideration, we chose a palette that included classic whites with grey veins (instead of the Crema Marfil off-white tiles featured in the original Svein pattern) and Nero Marquina black, ensuring the medallion would stand out without overwhelming the space. We also discussed the practical aspects, such as durability and maintenance, to ensure the finished product would be both beautiful and functional.

Customizing the Design

Adapting the flowy elements of the Svein design to a smaller space required careful planning and creativity. The original Svein Marble Mosaic design features a stunning radial pattern composed of alternating black and white triangular segments arranged in concentric circles. This design creates a dynamic, eye-catching geometric pattern that draws the viewer’s attention towards the center, making it a statement piece in any grand entrance or spacious area.

For the powder room, we reimagined this radial pattern to fit within a rectangular space. This adaptation involved rearranging the black and white triangular segments to flow harmoniously within the room’s dimensions, ensuring the design retained its intricate beauty and dynamic feel.

Detailed Renderings and Specifications

Once we had a solid design concept, our team created detailed renderings and specifications. These renderings included various color schemes, pattern adjustments, and layout options. We provided Jeff with several design iterations, incorporating his feedback at each stage. This iterative process allowed us to refine the design to perfection, ensuring it met all of Jeff’s expectations.

For the powder room of Jeff’s project, we adapted the original circular Svein design to fit a rectangular space. This required reimagining the radial pattern to maintain its visual impact within the confines of a smaller, rectangular area. The customized design still features the distinctive black and white triangular segments, but they are now arranged to flow harmoniously within the room’s 6’7″ x 5’9″ dimensions. This adaptation preserves the intricate beauty and dynamic feel of the original design while ensuring it fits perfectly in the specified space.

Samples & Final Approval

With the design and materials finalized, we moved to the final approval stage. We provided Jeff with a comprehensive package including the final renderings, material samples, and a detailed timeline for the project. The architect’s approval marked the beginning of the fabrication phase, and we were thrilled to see his excitement for the upcoming transformation of his powder room.

Fabrication Process

Our skilled artisans began the meticulous process of fabricating the mosaic medallion. Each piece of marble was carefully cut using timeless mosaic techniques. The pieces were then assembled the patterns of the design, with particular attention to the flow and symmetry.
